The chaos just does not end!!!

Well, I knew this day would come sometime or another, ya know with me having ALL boys and all....Nolan had to get 3 stitches in his hand last night.

He was outside with a friend playing catch with the football, Nolan was tyring to catch the ball, tripped over a toy lawn mower and landed on a pretty tiny sharp little rock embedded into the asphalt. I watched the whole thing happen.....I thought he was OK, until I saw blood pouring from the top of his hand. He saw that and went ballistic! It was pretty difficult to get him calmed down. Luckily I had a friend, my neighbor and my sister here to help out. I think if I was here alone I would not have known what to do. So we run it under water, and see that it is in fact a REALLY deep cut. My neighbor bandages it up and off to the ER we go. Got there at about 8:45, and didn't get out of there till 12:30 am. Nolan was VERY good when they did the stitches, I kinda thought he would have screamed his head off, but he was calm, asking the doctor all kinds of questions about the stitches. I was proud of him! The nurse was a pretty young chick, and was telling Nolan that he might have a nice scar and told him that 'chicks dig scars'! Nolan just laughed and turned all shades of red! It was funny!

Anyways, the doc excused him from school till 12pm today, but he got up about 9:45am and said that he was ready to go to school. He said his hand was a little sore, so I gave him some Motrin. (doctor didn't give any pain meds...) fed him breakfast and took him to school. I think he was excited to tell all his classmates what happened!

I am sure this will not be my last trip to the ER for stitches....but it was the first...so I had to share!

Poor Nolan...and you! I guess that is what we Mom-of-boys have to look forward to though isn't it. I hope it's your last ER trip for a long time.

Oh and I have to ask...have you taken any pics of the stitches? It is the first time and all.

Thanks for the visual. That was one powerful rock, huh? I hope it is healing up nicely for him.
